Bongbon Marcos says that he has already won the Vice Presidential race.
Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. believes that he won the vice presidential race although his closest rival Camarines Sur Representative Leni Robredo is still leading with more than 200,000 votes in partial and unofficial tallies.
In an interview with CNN Philippines, Marcos said that he is optimistic that he will win against Robredo since the overseas absentee voting (OAV) result showed him with a lead of about 86,000.
He is also hopefull that the results would be the same with other areas where votes are yet to be transmitted. This includes the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
Meanwhile, Leni Robredo’s camp slammed Marcos claims, saying that its “mathematically” impossible for him to win against the Liberal Party candidate.
According to ABS-CBN News, Robredo’s spokesperson Boyet Dy said that Marcos will not win even if he won in the remaining areas.
He added that 10 regions out of 18 are in favor of Robredo, while Marcos only dominated seven regions and other candidates share lead in one region.
Robredo also urges her supporters to stop making a fight, saying that they have a already won the race.
“Pakiusap ko po, para sa bayan, ‘wag na tayong makipag-away kasi panalo na tayo,” she said.
Marcos, the son of late dictator Ferdinand Marcis, earlier alleged of manipulating votes in favor of his rival, but Robredo denied, noting that he has no proof to prove his claims.
As of Monday morning, Robredo is still leading with 219, 046 votes.
