Peter Lavina Duterte victory

In a report by ABS-CBN, the campaign spokesperson of Duterte, Peter Lavina, gave the statement after the president-elect Duterte and Rep. Leni Robredo were confirmed as winners in the 2016 Elections as the president and vice-president of the Republic of the Philippines.

This was based on the final results of the votes tallied by the Congress being the National Boards of Canvassers. Thus, the proclamation of Duterte and Robredo by the Congress is expected on Monday.

“Finally victory has been achieved. The official results of 2016 presidential race with Rody Duterte as winner may be anti-climactic, but we should not lose its historic significance,” Lavina said as quoted in the article.

“His victory is the triumph of the people, by the people and for the people. Let us celebrate this milestone of Philippine democracy by uniting and working for genuine change,” Lavina added.

However, Bong Go, Duterte’s aide, said that the president-elect won’t be attending the proclamation.

Duterte has been known to be a strong-speaking leader as he exposed it during his campaign. He also pointed and promised several times that his administration will end crime for three to six months the moment he starts office.

Meanwhile, Robredo was the Representative from Camarines Sur. Her name came out into the national scene as her husband, late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo had gone during a plane crash in August 2012. She was the vice-presidential bet of the Liberal Party with the palform, “Daang Matuwid”.
