ASEAN Police Chiefs – Philippine National Police Director General Ronald Dela Rosa recently said that police chiefs from the different countries from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), have been praising the Philippines’ campaign against illegal drugs.
After his visit to Thailand for attending the anniversary of the Royal Thai Police, Chief Bato said that the chiefs of police from other countries have congratulated the Philippines for its actions regarding illegal drugs.
“I would like to inform you that all other chiefs of police na kasama ko doon (whom I’m with), mostly coming from the ASEAN countries, they are all very happy with what we are doing right now,” Dela Rosa said as quoted in a report by Inquirer.
He also revealed that even the Indonesian police commissioner said that its policemen are urging him to follow the anti-drug campaign of the Philippines, the “Oplan Tokhang”.
Like in Indonesia, the (Indonesian police commissioner) is being pressured by the people to copy what the Philippines is doing right now in our war on drugs particularly Oplan Tokhang,” the PNP Chief said.
He also mentioned that other countries are happy with President Duterte’s campaign according to the Indonesian police commissioner.
“He told me that all other countries say they are congratulating us for what we are doing,” Dela Rosa added.
The report added that Dela Rosa met with the Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, Police General Chakthip Chaijinda, for a discussion regarding the experience of Thailand in their own anti-drug policy during their former Prime Minister.
Dela Rosa said that during their talk, the Thai Police General claimed that the crime rate in the country lowered after its implementation.
Meanwhile, the “Oplan Tokhang” by the PNP still continues its operations for the anti-illegal drugs campaign promised by President Duterte.
