President Duterte To Introduce Cabinet Members On Tuesday Afternoon
As the elections came to the end, Rodrigo Duterte was recently proclaimed as the 16th President of the Republic of the Philippines and President Duterte is set to announce the members of his Cabinet, Tuesday afternoon.
According to a report by ABS-CBN, the President needs to fill more than 40 positions in his Cabinet. That’s why, he has been appointing people he knew like his college roommate, a childhood friend, and other former secretaries who have already served under the former administrations.
In a previous report by Inquirer, he has already announced some of his appointed cabinet members namely, Leoncio “Jun” Evasco (Secretary of the Cabinet), former Armed Forces chief of staff Hermogenes Esperon (National Security Adviser), Col. Rolando Bautista ( Head, Presidential Security Group).
He also included Ernesto Pernia (National Economic and Development Authority-NEDA) and Former justice secretary Silvestre Bello II ( Labor and Employment Secretary).
In earlier reports, he already announced the other members of his Cabinet including,
- Agriculture: Emmanuel “Manny” Piñol
- Executive Secretary: Salvador Medialdea
- Finance: Carlos Dominguez III
- Foreign Affairs: Perfecto Yasay Jr.
- Justice: Vitaliano Aguirre
- PAGCOR: Andrea Domingo
- Peace Process: Jesus Dureza
- Presidential Spokesperson: Salvador Panelo
- Public Works and Highways: Las Piñas Rep. Mark Villar
- Transportation and Communications: Arthur Tugade
It is also known that President Duterte is offering Cabinet positions for the Communist Party of the Philippines as he has connections with them.
Meanwhile, President Duterte is still undecided if his elected Vice President Leni Robredo will be given a Cabinet post. VP Robredo although stated that she wants to get involved in the anti-poverty programs of the government.
