Reason Why Pacquiao Moved To Oust De Lima
Pacquiao moved to oust De Lima – Senator Manny Pacquiao has explained his reason why he moved the motion to remove Senator Leila De Lima as the Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights.
In a report by GMA News, it is said that Pacquiao moved to declare the said justice panel post for a number of days after a witness named Edgar Matobato, who claims to be part of the vigilante group that is said to be under then Mayor and now President Rodrigo Duterte.
According to the report, the said vigilante group were the ones linked to the summary executi0n of suspected criminals in Davao City.
“Gusto po natin na ang committee ay para sa taong bayan, hindi lang pangsarili,” Pacquiao said as quoted in the report.
(We want that the committee is for the people, and not for selfishness.)
But before Pacquiao’s motion was declared, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano delivered a privilege speech which accusing De Lima of using her former chairmanship to go against President Duterte.
During the privilege speech, De Lima walked out and said that she will also deliver her own privilege speech on Tuesday.
Pacquaio, who came from Mindanao was a close ally of the President. Cayetano ran beside Duterte as the Vice President during the May 2016 Elections.
Also, there are many people who have been criticizing and belittling Pacquiao for his capability but, many are praising him for his timely actions.
Meanwhile, there are 16 senators who voted to oust De Lima as the chairperson of the Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights and has been replaced by Senator Richard “Dick” Gordon.
There are four senators who disagreed with the motion. They are namely, senators Drilon, Bam Aquino, Hontiveros, and Pangilinan.
The two senators, Senator Ralph Recto and Senator Antonio Trillanes IV have abstained.
