San Miguel Corporation denied that it issued P500 million check to senator Antonio Trillanes IV
The San Miguel Corporation (SMC) denied that it issued P500 million check to pay vice presidential candidate and senator Senator Antonio Trillanes IV. This was after photo of check went viral on social media sites.
In a statement sent to the media and Manila Bulletin, the SMC said that the photo “is nothing more than a fabrication and a blatant disinformation.”
The photo which is circulating online shows a check from Banco De Oro (BDO), dated March 30, 2016. The account name is under San Miguel Corporation and numbered 0853237.
It was posted by a certain Antonio Tamarkis on Facebook. He claimed that he verified the check and confirmed that the signature matched the signature of Chief Finance Officer Ferdinand Constantino.
SMC also denied that they have an account with BDO in Tandang Sora, Quezon City.
“[We] never issued such check to Senator Trillanes. Having said that, we denounce, in the strongest terms, this apparent effort to deceive the public and drag our company’s good name in current political issues,” the statement added.
Many netizens believe the said check was issued to Trillanes to defame presidential frontrunner Rodrigo Duterte.
Trillanes recently claims that Duterte has more than P200 million in his bank account at Bank of the Philippine Island (BPI), Pasig City. According to reports, the money was not declared on his Statement of Assets Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) in 2014.
Durterte admitted that the account is indeed existing, but he denied that it contains millions.

The amount on Duterte’s Bank Account if it is true is nothing compared to the loot from the Yolanda funds and other anomalous corrupt practices of the other candidates. San Miguel Corporation seems like playing a major role in manipulating our 2016 Presidential Elections. All this last minute propaganda are a bit too late because the die is cast. Duterte will be the next President of the Philippines
