President Duterte Proposed Teaching Grade 4 Students Danger of Drugs
President Duterte proposed teaching grade 4 students the danger of drugs as a part of his anti-drug campaign and also as early prevention.
In line with the president anti-drug campaign he wants Department of Education (DepEd) to teach young student early as grade 4 students the danger of drug abuse. Also, DepEd’s Education Secretary Leonor Briones said that they will implement preventive drug education in the country.
“Although drug education is taught in science and health classes, he (Duterte) wants it to start at Grade 4,” said by Leonor quoted by GMA. On Friday (September 02, 2016) on the congressional hearing on the DepEd’s proposed P567.5-billion budget for 2017 Leonor told the lawmakers.
Duterte wants the students to stay away from drugs and have alternative learning methods rather than describing the danger of drugs in textbooks and other school materials, according to the statement of Briones.
