Life Of Human Rights Activists Threatened By President Duterte
President Rodrigo Duterte threatens the life of the human rights activists who strongly opposes his anti-illegal drug campaign.
The war on drugs launched by President becomes one of the hottest issues and controversies around the world since he took office last Jun 30, 2016. His anti-illegal drug campaign has been criticized by several human rights groups group amid Extrajudicial Killings (EJK).
Human rights groups leaders should be the one to blame in case the problems on illegal drugs in the Philippines get worst, according to President Duterte. He also said that the groups are accusing him of killing the suspects involved on the illegal drug activities.
The president explained that can’t stop his anti-illegal drug campaign because the problem on drugs in the country will just get worst and the time will come that more people will die because of illegal drug issues in the country.
Duterte threat human right activists by saying they will be included to the people who will die because of drug related issues. He also said that the activists could be the reason for the increasing number of drug suspects.
Almost 2, 500 drug suspects were killed during the anti-illegal drug operation conducted by the authorities since Duterte took office a few months ago and there are also over 2, 500 suspects died due to vigilante killings made by drug lords to protect their identity.
Due to the increasing EJK incidents happening in the Philippines, several human rights groups raises their concern on the bloody crackdown on drugs. Also, the drug war in the country receives criticism from United States, European Union, United Nations, and international human rights groups.
Meanwhile, Duterte insists that there’s nothing wrong with threatening the life of the drug suspects and bad elements just to protect our beloved country.
