President Duterte Warned Newly Home OFW’s to Avoid Drugs
President Duterte warned newly home OFW’s from Saudi Arabia to avoid illegal drugs on Wednesday (August 31, 2016) in line with his anti-illegal drug campaign.
More than 100 repatriated OFW’s from Saudi Arabia arrived in the Philippines on Wednesday morning. The United States a close ally of Manila have already heard the concern of the right groups due to EJK but the president’s advocacy against illegal drugs gained popular support.
Duterte told the workers after an almost 10-hour flight from Dammam “Avoid drugs at all cost because it could cost your life too.” Two months since Duterte take over the position as president he vows to wipe out illegal drugs but EJK related to drugs have already reached 2, 000.
During the economic slump in Saudi Arabia, a lot of migrant oil and construction workers were abandoned by their employers. “I lost my job so my children were forced to drop out of college and they were mad at me but what can I do?” said by Ronie Surilla, 47, a construction worker for almost a decade in Saudi.
