Here are the Senators who expressed their support to Rappler in the midst of crisis it’s encountering now
Social news website Rappler has the support of several Senators from opposition in the midst of the crisis it is experiencing right now.
Following the revocation of its license by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the news website faced the dilemma of a possible operation termination.
Behind the current crisis it is facing at the moment, Rappler found shoulders to lean on in the persons of Senators from the minority bloc.
Based on the report of Pinoy Trending, Senators Risa Hontiveros, Bam Aquino, Franklin Drilon, Francis Pangilinan and Leila De Lima expressed their support for the news website.
Sen. Hontiveros criticized the government because of its decision to revoke the license of the social news website and for her it is a form of harassment.
The revocation of Rappler’s registration is pure harassment and a clear attack on press freedom. It is also Marcosian. It’s a move straight out of the dictator’s playbook. I urge the public and all media practitioners to defend press freedom & the right to speak truth to power.
