Resort in Kalinga to Be Close After Guest Died from “Killer Zipline”

Resort in Kalinga with “Killer Zipline” to Be Close After the Horrible Incident

The Department of Tourism (DOT) suggested closing the resort where a guest reportedly died from a killer zipline in Tabuk City, Kalinga.

Following the June 12 death of a nurse who fell down the zipline, the DOT-Cordillera would advise the cancellation of the certificate of accreditation or closure of the Camp L&C Resort in Sitio Gapang, Barangay Bagumbayan, Tabuk City, Kalinga. A video of the incident was taken and posted on social media.

The victim made the decision to test the resort’s zipline in light of the footage that had previously been erased due to its sensitive content. However, the victim unintentionally slips from the zipline handle and falls to the ground as soon as he jumps off.

The net’s intended function, which was to catch visitors falling from the zipline, is not fulfilled. When a visitor falls and the sufferer falls to the ground, damage is evident.

Paul Herbert Pallaya Gaayon, 31, a married man who lives in Purok 5 of Bulanao Centro in Tabuk City, Kalinga, was named as the victim. The amount of the proprietors of the aforementioned resort’s liability in relation to the occurrence will be determined by the investigation’s findings, according to DOT-Cordillera director Jovita Ganongan.

“Noong huling inspeksyon namin sa lugar ay wala ang zipline, kaya nabigyan ito ng DOT accreditation bilang isang resort at hindi saklaw ng kanilang accreditation ang pagkakaroon ng zipline sa kanilang pasilidad. Wala silang ipinaalam sa amin na naglagay sila ng recreation na zipline, kaya ito ay labag sa DOT rules and regulations,” Ganongan said.

He claimed that in order to explain the occurrence and their violation of safety accreditation rules, they had already sent a Notice to Explain to the resort owner, based on the report. According to Ganongan, they will immediately advise the leisure facility’s closure if it turns out that there have been violations.
