Senator Robinhood “Robin” Padilla confirmed on Monday, June 9, 2025, that several of Vice President Sara Duterte’s allies in the Senate are independently drafting resolutions to block her impending impeachment, which is scheduled to move forward in the House of Representatives on June 11.

Padilla has taken the lead by filing Senate Resolution No. 1371, which directly calls for the termination of the impeachment proceedings. This formal move signals strong resistance among Duterte loyalists to efforts by some members of the House to unseat the Vice President.
Speaking to reporters in an ambush interview, Padilla clarified that although the resolutions were drafted individually, they reflect a shared objective rooted in unwavering loyalty to the Duterte family.
“Hindi kami nag-uusap-usap. May kaniya-kaniya kaming isip, may kaniya-kaniya kaming gawa, may kaniya-kaniya kaming staff,” Padilla explained. He underscored that their commitment is personal and deeply rooted, adding, “Kami, Duterte kami. ‘Di ba malinaw naman siguro ‘yon? Kahit sunugin mo ‘ko dito, mangangamoy Rodrigo Roa Duterte ako.”
He also emphasized that his draft is independent: “Pero yung draft ko, walang kinalaman sa draft ni ganito o sa draft ni ganon. Akin yun sa sarili ko.”
Senator Imee Marcos earlier revealed that multiple draft resolutions have begun to circulate within the Senate chamber, all aimed at defending Vice President Duterte against the looming impeachment complaint. This growing movement among Duterte allies suggests an effort to consolidate support in the upper chamber and pre-empt any momentum the complaint might gain in the lower house.
Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa confirmed that his office was responsible for one of the drafts. Like Padilla, he said it reflected his personal stand in support of the Vice President.

The impeachment complaint against Vice President Duterte, filed earlier this year, has stirred sharp political divides. However, the emerging bloc of pro-Duterte senators may present a significant roadblock to its progression.
As June 11 approaches, all eyes are now on the Senate, where Duterte allies appear poised to make a united front—each with their voice, but with a common message: loyalty to the Dutertes remains steadfast.
