ROTC Will be Mandatory Soon According to Duterte
President Duterte wants to make Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) to be a mandatory subject for all the college students both males and females. The president will push a law that ROTC will be required and mandatory for every college students.
During the meeting last Monday (August 02, 2016) implementation of ROTC as mandatory was discussed. It is proposed by Salvador Panelo the chief legal counsel of Duterte.
In contrast with former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo that ROTC will be only “optional or voluntary” as it is stated in Republic Act (RA) 9163. NSTP has three components such as Literacy Training Services (LTS), Civil Welfare Training Service (CWTS), and off course ROTC.
Duterte wants to revive ROTC as mandatory for many people in our country do not have discipline anymore. This generation has a lot of drug addicts and no more love for our country as Panelo said.
