Charges Against President Duterte To Be Filed By Senator De Lima
Senator De Lima will file charges against President Rodrigo Duterte, which will test the presidential immunity from suit at the Supreme Court.
On Tuesday (October 11, 2016), in an interview the former Justice Secretary said that she will file a case at the Supreme Court against Duterte regarding the petition of habeas data and writ of Amparo.
Leila said that she’s going to file a test case against the president to invoke the presidential immunity from suit. De Lima cited the “blatant abuse” allegedly committed by Rodrigo.
Recently, President Duterte accused De Lima was involved to the illegal drug proliferation happened at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP). The senator deny the allegations even one of the convicts confessed her involvement with the illegal activities happened at the national penitentiary.
