SK election hints the start of driving away political dynasties in Philippine politics.
SK ELECTION – The incoming election in the Sangguniang Kabataan does not allow a candidate with a relative up to the second degree of consanguinity or affinity in the government.
Political dynasties are usual in the Philippine government. Some surnames have been in the politics for years – from the grandfather to the grandson.
Some of the most prominent surnames in the political world are Aquino, Pimentel, Arroyo, Villar, Marcos, and Cayetano. Not just one member of their families are in or have been in the political arena.
Recently reported in Inquirer, an anti-dynasty drive is starting in Sangguniang Kabataan as candidates for the incoming election are not allowed to run in case they have relatives in the local and national level.
This is applicable up to the second degree of consanguinity or affinity in any official in higher levels.
