Netizens Criticized VP Leni Robredo Over Wrong Answer in the Meaning of NGO
The outgoing Vice President Leni Robredo was criticized by the netizens for her wrong answer regarding the meaning of “NGO”.
Robredo was criticized even again after making an error in her response to what the NGO actually meant in Angat Buhay. Robredo previously stated that she intends to continue her office’s Angat Buhay initiative through a non-governmental entity.
On June 12, Robredo and the host Ely Saludar will have a brief conversation about the NGO on an episode of his radio show BISErbisyong Leni. Ely Saludar, the host, wants Robredo to explain what an NGO is.
“Hahahaha! Non-government .. non-government association,” Robredo replied.
His co-host quickly corrected him, explaining that NGO stands for “non-government organization.” Robredo’s statement divided the internet. Some have expressed their sympathy for the departing VP. Some, however, are criticizing her for giving the incorrect answer.
Meanwhile, Robredo advised several groups not to begin fundraising for their non-profit organization until it had been properly created. On July 1, Robredo’s first full day as a private person, she plans to start Angat Buhay. At 12:00 on June 30, presumptive president Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will be sworn in.
Given Robredo’s office’s limited financing, Angat Buhay has cooperated with private firms and other non-governmental organizations to assist support its operations. According to its website, as of December 2021, it had collaborated with 372 groups and mobilized P520 million in resources to serve 321,001 households and 305,223 persons in 223 areas.
