Work hours would start at 1 in the afternoon of the incoming president Rodrigo Duterte due to reading and signing documents that would be scheduled late at night.

Duterte said that he does not sign a document without reading it first so he expects to be awake until 1 in the morning, spending time in reviewing documents and signing papers.

He added that he cannot read and sign documents while in office because there would be a lot of visitors r guest every now and then. He prefers to take it on his study room and read the papers before he would sign it. He admits it would take time to review bulk of documents and papers that he would sign for and in behalf of the Republic.

The incoming president admits that he always need at least 8 hours of sleep, this would mean that he should wake up at 10 or 11 in the morning to arrive in his office at 1p.m.

He expressed his stand when questioned on the possible effect of work hours of the government workers when they have things to deal with him, “Wala akong pakialam sa diyan 8-5 ninyo. Kayo bahala basta basta ako matulog ako ng ano”, he said indicating that personnel may continue with their day-to-day task from 8a.m. to 5 p.m. and he has nothing to do with regular working hours

Previously, Duterte admits having reputation as a nocturnal person. He even serve as a watcher in wee hours, as a good strategy to reduce crime as a mayor of Davao City.
