If ever you have come across Leyte, then probably you have heard about Mahagnao Volcano Natural Park, and yes, this site is now making rounds online for its beautiful scenery and nature experience. The Mahagnao Volcano Natural Park is located between the boundaries of Burauen, La Paz and Macarthur.

According to some reports, Leyte Governor Leopoldo Dominico L. Petilla said that the number of local, national and foreign tourists visiting the said area has been monitored and observed each year. There are more than 5,000 tourists as of 2015 reported to have been visited Mahagnao Volcano Natural Park, he added.

He also said that upon the completion of the road concreting project this year leading to the part, more and more tourists are expected to visit the park.

Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Regional Office 8 (DENR-8) Regional Director Leonardo R. Sibbaluca said that acknowledging the potential of Mahagnao Volcano Natural Park (MVNP) his office has spearheaded the “First Mahagnao Volcano Natural Park Outdoor Festival” that was held on February 3, 2016 with the theme “Promoting MVNP ecotourism, conservation, education and ensuring quality like of local communities.”

Director Sibbaluca also said that the weather that can be felt in the place is comparable to the summer capital of the Philippines which Baguio. The said tourist spot has an elevation of 2,820 feet from the sea level and is identified as dormant by the PHIVOLCS. It was 1895 when the volcano was erupted, according to the records of Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

You can also enjoy boating and kayaking in Mahagnao Lake, according to Sibbaluca.
