Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not sign a prenup agreement because of this reason before their May 19, 2018 royal wedding.
The royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is just a few months away from now and a speculation surfaced regarding their prenup.
It was said that the royal family is asking the Prince to protect his assets and thus the use of a prenuptial agreement with his fiancée.
On the other hand, the soon-to-be-groom debunked this idea as he directly disagreed to sign one.
“There was never any question in Harry’s mind that he would sign a prenup. He’s determined that his marriage will be a lasting one, so there’s no need for him to sign anything,” a source from Prince Harry said, according to the article published in Brides.
Another reason is that prenup is not common in the United Kingdom, unlike in the United States of America.
This kind of agreement only works for celebrities and since that the couple will not have a celebrity wedding, instead it is a royal wedding, prenup is not important for them.
The said rumor about this started to circulate last week in the royal circle as what British columnist Sophia Money-Coutts reported.
“Both Harry and Meghan have assets to protect. Given divorce rates, it’s worth couples having a frank discussion about what each is bringing to the party before signing that marriage register,” the columnist said.
Talking about their assets, Prince Harry is worth $28 million and an additional of nearly $14 million as his inheritance from his mother, Princess Diana.
On the other hand, Meghan Markle is worth $5 million from her career in Hollywood.
Nevertheless, the couple is at ease with their own assets and confident of their love for each other.
Meanwhile, the article also revealed the estimated amount of the May 19, 2018 royal wedding and it could cost £500,000 or $670,000.
