Stranded Men Who Have been Missing For Three Days Found After Writing “HELP”

Stranded in a deserted Pacific island were two men who supposedly are traveling to the Micronesian Island of Weno.

These men were on their way to the island when a big wave overtook them said Melissa McKenzie, U.S Coast Guard spokeswoman.

They got no choice but to swim.

They swam through two miles of dark water before finally finding salvation to the tiny Pacific Island of Fanadik.

Fortunately, they were able to swim to the nearest island wearing life jackets.

They were out missing for three days already when luckily, a U.S Navy plane spotted the word “HELP” written out of palm leaves on the beach, officials said.

Their families were informed immediately.

Small local boat fetched them and were brought back to Pulap and took them to the hospital immediately.

No injuries were reported, thanks to the coordinated efforts of Navy and Coast Guard officials.

The U.S Coast Guard was first notified that two men were out missing three days ago.

They automatically issued an urgent broadcast seeking assistance from the Navy and officials in the area of the skiff’s last known location.

There were two cargo ships which helped by conducting a total of 17-hour search.

It was the Navy plane that ultimately spotted the men Thursday, 6 am, just taking two hours to fin them.

Lt. William White, Coast Guard spokesman said in a statement, “Our combined efforts coupled with the willingness of many different resources to com together and help, led to the successful rescue of these three men in a very remote part of the Pacific.”

Coast Guard 14 – the Coast guard in that region of the Pacific has coordinated a total of seven search-and-rescue efforts in the past two weeks, having ten volunteer vessels and six aircrews.

Moreover, fifteen lives were saved prior to this incident, sine last 28th of March.
