Freddie Roach: Pacquiao-Broner possibility?
Pacquiao-Broner – Legendary boxing trainer Freddie Roach has been pushing a match between the former world champion Adrien Broner and Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao even as Pacquiao has retired and now serves as a senator.
Pacquiao, on his last fight with Timothy Bradley, came victorious with a convincing unanimous decision in favor of the Filipino champ last April. Pacman said that he will be retiring to focus on family and his political career.
But, there are still rumors about the comeback of the Pacman in the boxing ring. One possible boxer Coach Freddie roach is eyeing is former world champion Adrien Broner.
In a report by Boxing Scene, Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach, said that it would be a good fight, “style-wise”.
“(Broner is) a little bit flamboyant and so forth, but he’s not impossible to hit,” Roach said. “He’s no Floyd Mayweather,” he added.
Broner’s last fight was in April against Ashley Theophane. He knocked down Theophane in the ninth round.
According to Roach, he knows Broner personally and he even called him a friend of him.
“He is, I met him on his fourth pro fight. He was a much different person back then, he was real nice to me,” Roach said.
But, he guaranteed that the “old Manny” is coming back a little bit and he just can’t wait to see the match.
“We’d be going for the knockout,” said the coach.
There is still no confirmation or any statement given by Pacquiao’s camp but, according to the sources of BoxingScene, Top Rank’s Bob Arum has been talking with Broner’s camp and as allegedly reserved the 15th of October in Las Vegas.
Will the Pacquiao-Broner fight be materialized? What do you think?
