Leaders of a team in NBA were also some of the many Americans who were not contented on the results of US presidential elections.
Coaches and players of the National Basketball Association (NBA) expressed what they feel about the US elections where Donald Trump beat Hillary Clinton on the race for the White House.
Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr said he was also dismayed at the election result.
During the early polls, it was expected that the former US Secretary of State will make it because of her big lead on the surveys. However, the result of the main elections were different after Trump wins the polls.
“I thought we were better than this,” said Kerr on Thursday, Manila Time.
“I have no idea what kind of president (Trump will be) but it’s tough when you want there to be some respect and dignity and there hasn’t been any.
“And you walk in and you see the faces of your players, and most of them who have been insulted directly, as minorities. It’s sure shocking. It really is.”
Earlier, Detroit Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy is also one of the many Americans who condemned and felt ashamed of the election of Trump.
“It’s embarrassing. I can’t say I’ve ever been ashamed of our country until today,” Van Gundy said. “We just elected an openly brazen racist, misogynist leader,” Gundy said.
On the other hand, Golden State forward David West, felt that the Trump’s election manifests still simmering racial, ethnic and class tensions in the United States.
“This whole fairy tale about some post-racial utopia that Obama supposedly created is all bull,” he said.
“The things that he (Trump) said, the things that he represented, that’s the way that the majority of this nation feels.
“I think he just emboldened them because he’s able to say it publicly. He got the platform.” — Reuters
