Pacquiao-Crawford Match Impossible?
Pacquiao-Crawford Match – Coach Freddie Roach recently admitted that he might not let former world boxing champion and not Senator Manny Pacquiao to immediately come and fight Terence Crawford.
In a report by Boxingscene, Roach became reluctant after Crawford out-pointed Viktor Postol in a title unification match (WBC and WBO junior welterweight belts) in Las Vegas. Postol has been trained by the legendary trainer for the light-welterweight match. Crawford scored two knockdowns and went all the way to a unanimous decision victory.
Crawford’s victory made him be the front-runner to fight Pacquiao in his comeback fight in November after a short retirement.
“Crawford’s a pretty good puncher, he hits hard and he moves very well and emulates (Floyd) Mayweather quite a bit, I think. I think he’s like a young Mayweather, right now,” said Roach as quoted in the report.
With all the confusion and the talks going on about Pacquiao’s comeback, Roach said that since Manny was in the Philippine Senate, he would go and train the Filipino boxing icon in the Philippines.
Coach Freddie then said that he might not accept the fight right away and suggested to first give Pacquiao a warm-up fight before starting to talk about having the match between Pacquiao and Crawford possible.
Terrence Crawford has a record of 29 wins, 20 wins by knockout, and still undefeated while Manny Pacquiao has 58 wins, 6 defeats, 2 draws, including 38 knockouts.
According to Roach, Pacquiao still knows that fighting is what he does best even though he’s a senator now. Roach said that Pacquiao really became so popular because of boxing and not being a politician, yet. But, the coach said that even though Pacquiao hasn’t proved anything yet being a senator, he is convinced that Pacquiao will do his best to help the people.
