Incoming Presidential Communications Operations (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar revealed during an exclusive interview with ANC Headstart on Friday that he would tap the exertise of a former ABS-CBN News Executive to run the state-owned TV network, PTV-4. The hiring an ABS-CBN executive to managed PTV-4 is part of Andanar’ effort to overhaul the People’s Television Network 4 (PTV-4).
The veteran news anchor and a well-know TV-5 personality Martin Andanar told Karen Davila on “ANC Headstart” that “The person that I am hiring as GM (general manager) and the person I’m hiring as the news director, in fact, comes from ABS-CBN,” he said.
Martin Andanar refused to identify the former news executive who will head PTV-4 because the executive needs to consult his family first. He was quoted as saying “Kailangan niya pang isipin e, kailangan niya pang kausapin ‘yung pamilya niya, et cetera, you know because it’s a huge, it’s a gargantuan task to run PTV News,” Andanar stated.
During the previous interviews with the media upon the announcement of Mayor Duterte that Andanar will served as his PCOO Secretary, Martin Andanar revealed that he plans to make PTV-4 to be at par with the commercial TV stations in the Philippines. He even noted that as far as he is concerned he wants PTV-4 to be like the state-owned TV station of the UK, the BBC News.
Aside from PTV-4, the government media entities under the PCOO are the Philippine Broadcasting Service, Radyo ng Bayan, the Philippine Information Agency, the Philippine News Agency, and the National Printing Office.
