Photos Of The Aftermath Of The 6.5 Magnitude Quake In Masbate
AFTERMATH OF 6.5 MAGNITUDE QUAKE – Earlier, Masbate experienced a 6.5 magnitude earthquake that was felt in several parts of the Philippines.
Due to the strength of the quake, several establishments within Masbate suffered severe damage. Here are some of the pictures of the aftermath of the earthquake posted by Red Cross Masbate.
As you can see in the photos, the quake caused intensive damage several properties. According to an article from Philnews, the following intensities were felt in these areas:
- Intensity IV
- Mapanas, Northern Samar
- City of Legazpi, Albay
- Lezo, Aklan
- Intensity III
- Iloilo City
- Intensity I
- President Roxas, Capiz
Homes of some residents were hit hard, causing the walls and the roof of their houses to collapse. Because of this, several families were now left without shelter.
Furthermore, the quake was strong enough to damage the Public Attorney’s office in Cataingan Town, Masbate. The columns in the front of the building gave way and is about to collapse.
Meanwhile, Phivolcs said that the quake would not spawn any tsunamis but several aftershocks and damage to property may be felt. Additionally, other areas close to Masbate also felt the tremor in varying intensities.
