Provincial Veterinarian With Gun Does Home Service Dog Shooting
VETERENARIAN WITH GUN – Several residents made complaints regarding a veterinarian who puts down dogs in their barangays by shooting them.
According to residents of Marinduque, their local government decided to take care of the increased number of street dogs. Unfortunately, this meant putting the dogs down.
Based on an article from ABS-CBN, Miriam Cruzado captured a video of a man shooting the dog of her aunt in their own property in Barangay Yook. In the video, you could even see the dog screaming until it was out of life.
“Bigla pong dumating yung doktor daw po ‘yon… may dala po siyang baril. Ang pagkakaintindi po namin, ‘yong sa anti-rabies doon po ia-ano sa baril para siyempre hindi nila mahawakan ‘yong aso“
Meanwhile, another resident from Barangay Libas captured a man standing in front of a dog struggling in pain that was identified as the provincial veterinarian. Along with this, another resident found the car of the said veterinarian as well as the piles of dead dogs besides the Barangay hall back on August 11.
As per the article, a resident who didn’t want to be named said some residents in his area have volunteered to have their dogs shot because they couldn’t take care of them. “Kapag pumayag po ‘yong may-ari na barilin ‘yong aso nila, binabaril niya po agad kahit nasa harapan po noong may-ari”, the resident said.
Furthermore, the resident added that if the veterinarian would mean a dog on the street, he would shoot the dog without anybody’s consent. Surprisingly, Buenavista Mayor Nancy Madrigal said confirmed that she was in contact with the said veterinarian.
However, the Animal Kingdom Foundation condemns shooting dogs. They explained that the act could only be done by members of the Army and Police sharpshooters. Moreover, the shooting should be made away from the public view, especially away from children.
