Kid With Cancer Sells Paintings To Give Help To Frontliners Amid Pandemic
AEDAN PIO MALVAR – A 9-year-old kid with cancer sells his paintings online so he could help out medical frontliners amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Even with a rare bone cancer called clival chordoma, Aedan Pio Malvar has been selling his paintings to gather funds to give to frontliners. Malvar sells his paintings of stars and planets and other cosmic bodies on his social media page.
Pio said that he’s happy to help out medical frontliners because they also helped him with his condition. According to an article from ABS-CBN, Pio said:
Surprised ako kasi ‘di ko inakala na maraming magkakagusto ng artwork ko, na kahit para sa ‘kin hindi sila masyadong perfect … Siyempre happy na nakakatulong ako the same way na tinulungan ako ng mga tao
Meanwhile, Pio’s mother, Gem Zapanta said her son always loved to paint. Then, after his first operation back in 2015, her son decided to start giving back to frontliners by selling his paintings online.
As per the article, Pio’s mother said that aside from the money, Aedan had also become an inspiration for others to help out with his cause, especially during the pandemic. Furthermore, she hopes that her son could inspire others who have disabilities and conditions to never let their diagnosis define their lives.
The money collected would be directed to the Brave Warrior Kids Foundation (BWKF) at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) Medical Foundation.
