Old video of Imelda Marcos is going viral again.
An old video of Imelda Marcos, widow of strongman Ferdinand Marcos, being acquitted from multiple cases have been circulating on the social media sites again. It was uploaded by a certain Sarikdha Salvacion.
The video was taken by GMA News in 2008. It shows what happened during the acquittal of Imelda Marcos on 32 cases for illegally transferring wealth out of the Philippines.
Imelda Marcos and her two co-accused had been charged of secretly keeping $863 million in Swiss bank accounts. The case lasted for 17 years before they were acquitted.
Manila Regional Trial court judge Silvino Pampilo Jr. said that the witness of the other camp have failed to prove the wrongdoing of Marcos.
One Facebook commenter said that Marcos spent the money on government projects that’s why people can’t see the alleged stolen wealth.
“WLA tlga silang makitang nakaw na yaman sa mga marcos dhil kong meron pa di sna magkaroon ng maraming project na ginawa ni macoy.”
Another netizen said that people should move on from the issue since Marcoses have already been acquitted from the cases.
Aside from being the wife of former president Ferdinand Marcos, Imelda Marcos gained fame for her collection of expensive shoes, diamond-curated tiaras, and collection of jewelries.
Ferdinand Marcos served as the President of the Philippines for 20 years, ruling as a dictator under martial law from 1972 to 1981.
His son is Senator Ferdinand “Bonbong” Marcos who recently lost the Vice Presidential race to his closest rival Leni Robredo.
