LPA Develops into Tropical Depression Outside PAR

As of 8:00 PM today, June 24, 2025, the Low Pressure Area (LPA 06F) being monitored just outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into a tropical depression, according to the latest advisory from PAGASA. This development could affect the country’s weather in the coming days, especially when combined with the ongoing effects of the Southwest Monsoon or “Habagat.”

Weather Update

Earlier at 3:00 PM, the LPA was spotted approximately 445 km west of Dagupan City, Pangasinan, at coordinates 16.2°N, 116.2°E. Although still outside PAR, its influence is already being felt, especially in areas affected by the enhanced monsoon system.

Forecast Weather Conditions

The southwest monsoon continues to affect the western section of Southern Luzon, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Bataan, Zambales, Palawan, and Occidental Mindoro. Residents in these areas are advised to remain alert for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to, at times, heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms brought about by localized thunderstorms. Though generally fair, severe thunderstorms may still lead to localized flash floods or landslides.

Wind and Coastal Water Conditions

For Northern Luzon, Central Luzon, and the western section of Southern Luzon, winds will be light to moderate from the southwest to southeast, with slight to moderate coastal waters (0.6 to 1.8 meters).

In the rest of the country, light to moderate winds from the southwest to south are expected, with coastal waters ranging from 0.6 to 1.2 meters, which are still considered generally safe for marine activities.

PAGASA continues to monitor the tropical depression closely. While it remains outside PAR as of this writing, it may enter in the coming days and potentially bring more widespread rainfall. Residents are advised to stay updated through official forecasts and to prepare for possible changes in weather conditions, especially those in monsoon-affected areas.
