The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has issued its weather forecast for May 15, 2025, highlighting the impact of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) over Mindanao and easterlies affecting the rest of the country.

Cloudy with Rains in Southern Areas
Mindanao, along with Eastern Visayas and Palawan, will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. PAGASA attributes this weather pattern to the ITCZ, a belt of low pressure where winds from the northern and southern hemispheres converge. The agency warns of possible flash floods and landslides, particularly in areas prone to flooding and mountainous terrain, as moderate to at times heavy rainfall is expected.
Warm and Humid in Metro Manila and Luzon
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. These are due to the prevailing easterlies, or warm winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean. While rain may be brief, PAGASA cautions the public about possible severe thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening, which may lead to localized flash floods or landslides.
Calm Wind and Sea Conditions
Wind conditions across Luzon and Visayas will remain light to moderate, blowing from the east to southeast. Mindanao will experience similar wind speeds, with the direction shifting from east to northeast. Coastal waters across the country will remain slight to moderate, with wave heights ranging from 0.6 to 1.5 meters — safe for most sea travel, though small fishing vessels are still advised to exercise caution during thunderstorms.
Temperature and Humidity Extremes
For the 24 hours ending at 4:00 PM today, temperatures ranged from a minimum of 24.9°C at 6:15 AM to a maximum of 33.1°C at 11:00 AM. The lowest relative humidity recorded was 56% at 11:00 AM, indicating warm and dry midday conditions.
Flood Advisories Issued
As of 6:00 PM, General Flood Advisories are in effect in multiple regions. The highest-level advisories (GFA #5) have been raised in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Davao Region, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), urging residents to remain alert for rising water levels.
