The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued its afternoon weather forecast on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, warning of rains and possible localized flooding in several parts of the country due to a low-pressure area (LPA).

As of 3:00 PM, the LPA was spotted over the coastal waters of Sipalay, Negros Occidental (9.8°N, 122.4°E). The weather disturbance, combined with prevailing easterlies, is expected to bring widespread rain to parts of the Visayas, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), SOCCSKSARGEN, and Quezon province.
These areas will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. PAGASA warned residents in affected regions to prepare for possible flash floods and landslides, particularly in areas susceptible to these hazards.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to easterlies. Severe thunderstorms may still result in flash floods or landslides in low-lying or mountainous areas.
Wind and coastal water conditions across the country remain generally calm. In the western section of Luzon, winds will be light to moderate coming from the southwest to southeast, with coastal waters ranging from slight to moderate (0.6 to 1.8 meters). Similar conditions are forecast for the rest of Luzon, with winds blowing from the east to the southeast.
The eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao will also experience light to moderate winds from the southeast to northeast, with wave heights of 0.6 to 1.5 meters. The rest of the country will experience variable light to moderate winds with slight to moderate seas of 0.6 to 1.0 meters.
Temperature extremes in the past 24 hours ranged from a cool 25.4°C recorded at 6:00 AM to a high of 33.5°C at 1:00 PM. Relative humidity reached a maximum of 92% at 5:00 AM and dropped to a minimum of 61% by 1:00 PM.
PAGASA continues to monitor the LPA and advises the public to stay updated through official bulletins and advisories.
