The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has issued its weather forecast for March 15, 2025, highlighting the continued influence of easterlies over the country. This weather system will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms to parts of Eastern Visayas and Mindanao, while the rest of the country will experience isolated rain showers.

Cloudy Skies and Scattered Rains Over Eastern Visayas and Mindanao

Residents of Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental should prepare for cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. The rains, caused by the easterlies, may become moderate to heavy at times, posing risks of flash floods and landslides in low-lying and mountainous areas.

Partly Cloudy to Cloudy Skies for Metro Manila and the Rest of the Country

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and most parts of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with the possibility of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon or evening. While the rains are expected to be generally light, severe thunderstorms could lead to localized flash floods or landslides, especially in areas with poor drainage.

Wind and Coastal Water Conditions

For maritime activities, Pagasa reported the following wind and coastal water conditions:

  • Northern Luzon will experience light to moderate winds from the east to southeast, with slightly moderate coastal waters ranging from 0.6 to 2.1 meters.
  • The rest of the country will have light to moderate winds from the east to northeast, with coastal waters also remaining slightly moderate, ranging from 0.6 to 2.1 meters.

Despite relatively calm sea conditions, small seacraft operators are still advised to remain cautious, especially during thunderstorms, which can cause sudden rough seas.

Public Advisory

Pagasa reminds the public to stay updated on the latest weather bulletins, especially those in areas prone to flooding and landslides. Fishermen and travelers in coastal areas should also monitor sea conditions before heading out.
