Pagasa Issues Rainfall and Flood Advisories for October 26, 2024

October 26, 2024 — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has issued Rainfall Advisory No. 39 at 5:00 AM, warning of possible rainfall-induced floods across various areas due to the trough of Tropical Cyclone Trami, formerly known as KristinePH.

According to Pagasa’s Visayas PRSD (Philippine Regional Services Division), light to moderate rains, occasionally heavy, are expected over parts of Palawan, particularly in Bataraza, Brooke’s Point, Sofronio Española, and Quezon. These areas are anticipated to receive between 2.5 to 4.5 liters per square meter per hour, with occasional intensification reaching 7.5 to 15 liters per square meter per hour. The downpour is likely to continue for the next one to two hours, potentially increasing risks of localized flooding.

Currently, rainfall is already being experienced in several locations, including Magsaysay, Cuyo, El Nido, Culion, Busuanga, Coron, and Rizal in Palawan, as well as Kalayaan Islands. In Occidental Mindoro, areas such as Magsaysay, San Jose, Rizal, Calintaan, and parts of Sablayan are also under rainfall alerts. Pagasa forecasts that these weather conditions may persist for the next two to three hours, affecting nearby areas as well.

Simultaneously, general flood advisories have been released for multiple regions as of 6:00 AM, urging the public to take precautions and prepare for potential flooding in low-lying areas. Key regions include the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), with the issuance of Flood Advisory #9, and the Ilocos Region with Flood Advisory #8. In Cagayan Valley (Region 2) and CALABARZON (Region 4A), final advisories have been issued as Flood Advisories #10 and #12, respectively.

Further flood warnings are in place for MIMAROPA, the Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and Eastern Visayas, each region experiencing varying levels of rainfall due to the weather disturbance. Residents, particularly in flood-prone areas, are advised to monitor updates from Pagasa and take necessary safety measures. Additionally, local authorities are on standby for any emergencies that may arise.
