Pagasa Latest Weather Forecast August 2, 2025

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued the latest weather forecast for September 2, 2025, highlighting the presence of a Low Pressure Area (LPA) and the continuing influence of the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

As of 3:00 p.m., the LPA was spotted 1,170 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon, located at 20.2°N, 132.6°E. According to state meteorologists, the weather disturbance has a “medium” chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. Residents are advised to remain alert for updates as conditions may rapidly change.

In the meantime, the Southwest Monsoon continues to affect large parts of Southern Luzon and the western section of Visayas. Areas most likely to experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms include the Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Antique. PAGASA warned that moderate to at times heavy rainfall in these provinces may trigger flash floods and landslides, especially in low-lying or mountainous areas.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila, the rest of Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, the Bicol Region, and the rest of Western Visayas will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Although rainfall may not be widespread, severe thunderstorms could still result in localized flooding and landslides.

The rest of the country, including most of Mindanao, is expected to have generally fair weather with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated thunderstorms due to localized weather systems. These thunderstorms, while often short-lived, can still produce strong winds and heavy downpours.

For maritime conditions, winds across Luzon and Visayas will be light to moderate coming from the southwest to southeast, with coastal waters expected to be slight to moderate at 0.6 to 1.5 meters. In Mindanao, winds will also be light to moderate, blowing from the south to southwest, with slight to moderate seas reaching up to 1.2 meters.

PAGASA reminded the public to monitor official updates as the LPA may intensify further and alter forecast conditions. Residents in flood- and landslide-prone areas are urged to remain cautious and prepared, particularly during heavy rains brought by the monsoon and thunderstorms.
