The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reports that the Northeast Monsoon continues to affect Northern and Central Luzon, while the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) influences Southern Mindanao. Here’s the detailed forecast:
Weather Conditions
- Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi: Due to the ITCZ, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected. Residents should prepare for possible flash floods or landslides from moderate to heavy rainfall.
- Bicol Region and Quezon: These areas will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the easterlies. These conditions can also pose risks of flash floods or landslides.
- Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, and Ifugao: Light rains brought by the Northeast Monsoon are expected, with no significant impact.
- Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, and the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region: Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains are anticipated due to the Northeast Monsoon, which has minimal impact.
- Metro Manila and the rest of the country: Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected due to the easterlies. Severe thunderstorms may cause localized flash floods or landslides.
Wind and Coastal Water Conditions
- Northern Luzon: Moderate to strong winds from the northeast to east will cause moderate to rough coastal waters, with wave heights ranging from 2.1 to 3.1 meters.
- Rest of the country: Winds will be light to moderate, coming from the east to northeast, resulting in slight to moderate coastal waters with wave heights of 0.6 to 2.5 meters.
