As of 2:00 AM today, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) reported a new Low-Pressure Area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), tagged as LPA 11a. This weather disturbance formed from a cloud cluster but is currently unlikely to develop into a Tropical Depression within the next 24 hours.
General Weather Synopsis
Today’s primary weather influencer is the easterly wind flow affecting the eastern regions of Luzon and Visayas. This weather pattern brings mild to moderate winds that may cause scattered rain showers in various areas.
Forecasted Weather Conditions by Region
- Batanes and Babuyan Islands
Due to the influence of the northeasterly windflow, residents in these areas can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains. Pagasa notes that no significant weather impact is anticipated for these islands. - Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Aurora, Quezon, and the Rest of Cagayan Valley
Due to the easterlies, these areas will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. Pagasa advises caution, as severe thunderstorms in these regions could lead to flash floods or landslides, particularly in flood-prone and mountainous areas. - Metro Manila and the Rest of the Country
For the capital region and other parts of the Philippines, Pagasa forecasts partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms. The agency warns that intense rain from these thunderstorms may also result in flash floods or landslides in vulnerable areas.
Wind and Coastal Water Conditions
- Extreme Northern Luzon
Moderate winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over extreme Northern Luzon, creating moderate coastal waters with wave heights ranging from 1.2 to 2.5 meters. - The Rest of the Country
For other regions, light to moderate winds from the northeast to the north will generate slightly to moderate coastal waters with wave heights between 0.6 and 2.1 meters.
