The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released its official weather forecast for January 22, 2026, highlighting the continued influence of the Northeast Monsoon, or Amihan, across large parts of the country, while a weakened Low Pressure Area (LPA), formerly Tropical Depression “ADA,” remains far from land.

As of 3:00 a.m., the LPA was estimated at 1,155 kilometers east of Southeastern Luzon, located at 13.6°N, 134.9°E. PAGASA noted that the weather system is no longer expected to directly affect the country, but the prevailing Northeast Monsoon continues to shape weather conditions over Luzon and the Visayas.
Several areas are expected to experience cloudy skies with light rains, particularly in the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Caraga, Aurora, Quezon, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Northern Samar, and Eastern Samar. These conditions are attributed to the Northeast Monsoon, and PAGASA said no significant impacts are anticipated in these areas.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, most of the Visayas, and Northern Mindanao will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, also due to the monsoon. Weather authorities emphasized that rainfall in these areas will generally be light and brief, with minimal disruption to daily activities.
For the rest of Mindanao, weather conditions will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, driven by localized thunderstorm activity. PAGASA warned that during periods of severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may occur, especially in flood-prone and mountainous areas.
PAGASA also issued advisories on wind and coastal water conditions, particularly for northern and eastern sections of the country. Northern Luzon and the eastern portions of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao may experience strong to gale-force winds coming from the northeast, with rough to very rough seas reaching 2.8 to 4.5 meters.
The rest of Luzon and the Visayas will have moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters ranging from 1.2 to 2.8 meters. In the remaining parts of Mindanao, winds will be moderate to strong from the northeast to north, with sea conditions reaching 1.2 to 2.5 meters.
PAGASA advised small seacraft operators and fishermen to exercise caution, particularly in areas with rough to very rough seas, and encouraged the public to stay updated through official weather bulletins. Pagasa WEATHER FORECAST January 22, 2026
