Davao Police initiates change by this showing exemplary character through a simple action
Davao Police Officer shows change is possible and that must start in our own selves. A photo of a police officer went viral on a social media posted by an Ipe Lomada on facebook. The said post describes an admirable action done by a man of honor wearing his police uniform while riding on a jeepney.
Lomada on his post said that while on board traveling to his work, he heard a man paying his fare to the driver only to find out that the man was a police officer wearing his uniform. For drivers of public utility jeep, it is their usual courtesy to return payments from police or traffic enforcers as a sign of respect. So the driver immediately tried to return the payment to the officer, named PO1 Ong, who was verified through his nameplate.
PO1 Ong unexpectedly returned the fare to the driver by saying, ““Boss, mubayad lang ko ha.. usabon nato ang daang kinaiya”, which means, “Boss (refering to the jeepney driver), I shall pay, let’s change the old habit… “. The driver on the other hand accepted the fare after a passenger said in humor that police have higher salary now so the driver must take the fare.
On the other hand, Lomada lauded the act of the police officer by saying that the police is deserving of the uniform that he wears with the words embroidered, “DAVAO CITY’S FINEST” and continued by saying, he salutes the officer.
