Pacific Island Resort Price From A $49 Raffle Ticket

One lucky man from New South Wales, Australia just won a Pacific Island resort from a $49 raffle ticket that started in April, which attracted people from 150 countries making the ticket sales spurted to 75,000 worldwide.

Kosrae Nautilus Resort

On a Facebook post on July 27, the lucky winner was identified as Joshua, now the owner of Kosrae Nautilus Resort – a 16-room Micronesian resort that’s originally owned by an Australian couple named Doug and Sally Beitz.

The winning ticket was numbered 44980 as announced last Wednesday.

Joshua will be the owner of the resort, which is profitable, and has more than 20 years left on its lease – also, it’s debt-free.

People then comment to the post congratulating Joshua for what he attained.

In a report by The Guardian, the owners of the resort decided to, instead of selling the resort to the highest buyer, decided to throw it to a raffle.

The couple built the said resort back in 1994 and lived there. But now, they felt that it’s time to go back to their home in Australia to “spend more time with their grandchildren.”

“We feel like a new chapter in our lives is beginning, and we’re ready to pass the baton to someone else,” Doug said.

“We’ve had our time in the sun and enjoyed a career most people would never even dare dream about, but our current goal now is to become professional grandparents,” he added.

The couple, however, is hoping that the next owner of the resort will be someone who would love warm weather, meeting new people coming from the other parts of the world.

Robot Emma Massages – A robot called Emma, an acronym for Expert Manipulative Massage Automation, reportedly gives a better massage that a professional trained to do such thing.

Robot Emma massages better

In a report by Mirror, the Robot Emma massages using 3D technology and sensors to measure the client’s stiffness and the response as well. The custom-made 3D-printed massage tip on its robotic arm is expected to give a “high-quality therapy”.

After the robot used diagnostic functions to the patient, the report is then sent to be analyzed and the recovery of the patient can be monitored for a long period of time.

Emma has been tested to give treatment to 50 patients last week who were complaining about their lower back pain, shoulders, stiff neck, and tennis elbows.

Albert Zhang, a graduate of Nanyang Technological University in Singapore created Emma because of his desire to solve some of the challenges being faced by sports therapy and pain management clinics.s

Zhang said that Emma was designed to automatically treat patients prescribed by a physiotherapist or Chinese physician. According to him, Emma would be the first robot in the market functioning for both sports therapists and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) physicians.

“Our aim is not to replace the therapists who are skilled in sports massage and acupoint therapy, but to improve productivity by enabling one therapist to treat multiple patients with the help of our robots,” Zhang said.

Emma is made up of a single, 6-axis robotic arm that can do highly articulated movements. It also has a 3D-stereoscopic camera for vision, together with a custom, fully rotatable 3D-printed massage tip.

Safety features are also built-in on Emma.

911 Philippines, Ready To Serve

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has recently posted a video declaring that the department is ready to serve as part of President Duterte’s 911 Philippines.

911 Philiippines
President Duterte has been saying that he will make unified emergency response number just like what he did in Davao City being a mayor.

In the description of the video posted in the Facebook page of 911 Philippines, the Bureau pointed out that it is ready to respond “disaster and Emergency like Fire, Typhoon, Earthquake, Landslides, Tsunami, Flood, Terrorist attack, Civil disturbance, Riot control, Search and rescue, Vehicular accident, and other Emergency.”

The said video was shot using a drone wherein it can be seen that there are many fire trucks positioned around the Quezon City Memorial Circle monument.

Accompanied by a modern upbeat music, the trucks then fired water with different colorful making it look breath-taking.

The said 911 hotline would be launched in August 2016 covering the whole Philippines.
Now, netizens have shared their excitement and wonder of the new emergency hotline on their comments. Some thanked Duterte for the centralized system.

But, others have proved that the said video was actually taken before, last February 2016.

That means, the acquisition of the trucks and equipment are under former DILG secretary Mar Roxas and under former President Noynoy Aquino.

People still stood that without the centralized system, these equipment would be useless.

911 would be the new emergency hotline for the whole Philippines starting August 2016. People behind the centralized system also urged the public to avoid doing pranks over the said hotline.

Duterte advised DILG secretary Ismael Sueno to make the hotline free of charge for all. Still, there are rumors saying that there is a 5-peso charge intended to prevent prank calls.
