ABS-CBN Releases Press Statement On ‘Bagani’ After CHED Demanded Explanation

ABS-CBN released its official press statement regarding Bagani after CHED Commissioner Ronald Adamat demanded the network to explain their use of the term.

Following the demand from Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner Ronald Adamat to explain the term Bagani being used on the upcoming Kapamilya teleserye, ABS-CBN releases its official pres statement regarding the matter.

It can be recalled that Adamat sought for immediate clarification and explanation from the network for the term they used as a title which according to him the use of it is bothering.

It is because he viewed that in the teleserye, which features Liza Soberano, Enrique Gil, Matteo Guidicelli, Sofia Andres and Makisig Morales, the said term is being portrayed as “bayani with magical powers”.

In line with this, on the official Twitter account of ABS-CBN PR, the network released its official statement about Bagani.

The network wants to emphasize its concept of the term in the teleserye is a warrior, protectors and heroes who possesses the known Filipino values and beliefs.

It was also said that a team intensively researched about it and at the end they came up with one conclusion that the said term best solidifies what they want to convey in theTV series.

Furthermore, the management of ABS-CBN wants to clarify that it has no intention to malign or disrespect the belief of Indigenous People’s communities.

The network also iterated that the said fantaserye is does not represent historical event of Philippine history or culture.

It was mentioned in a report published in Inquirer that the Bagani is a term used by Manobos “tribal warriors” who defend the community from outside threats.

In the teleserye, the term is being depicted as heroes with supernatural powers, based on the article.
