In the case of the female members of the social insurance institution, there is another perk – the SSS maternity benefit. They can obtain a cash assistance on the period of pregnancy or giving birth.

Based on the official website of the Social Security System, the maternity benefit is open for pregnant members who have contributed at least three(3) monthly contributions in the last 12 months.

Also, it is important that the employer or the SSS knows that the said member is pregnant and as well as the due date.

With regards to how much a pregnant member may receive under the SSS maternity benefit, it will be the equivalent of the 100% average daily salary credit (ADSC) of the member multiplied to either of the following:

  • 60 days for members who gave birth through normal delivery
  • 78 days for members who gave birth through the caesarean section or those who have ectopic pregnany
