World’s Oldest Trees For 2016: Must See

World’s oldest trees in the world can teach us a lot of things, and here are some of it:

We all know, or according to our high school lessons in Science, trees absorb carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, carbon dioxide, and other potentially toxic gases, releasing oxygen to the environment.

Without air, us humans cannot live, same goes with other living creatures. Trees therefore create and provide good habitat for animals, and produce food by itself, how truly wonderful and amazing it is right?

So today, we re being reminded how trees and other plants are vital to us, we need them, and they need us as well, without them, pollution itself will d3stroy humankind.

In honor of all the trees, here are the oldest trees of the world, standing strong, having in us, that one day, there will be more of them.

Kongeegen Tree, Denmark. 

It means “King’s Oak”, an ancient oak tree located in North of Europe, Denmark. Estimated to have lived for more than 1,500 years, it is known as the oldest tree in whole of Europe.

Chestnut Tree, Sicily, Italy.

Also called as “The tree of one hundred horses“, located a few kilometers from Sant’Alfio’s town, near mt. Etna. Scientifically called Castagno dei Cavalli, believed to have lived for over 2,000 years. The enormous chestnut tree has a 190-feet circumference.

Jomon Sugi

A Cryptomeria tree, which is 83-feet tall and 53-feet girth, located at Yakushima, Japan. It got its name during the Jomon period and has lived 7,000 years old. But according to its growth ring, it is about 2,000 years old.

Jardine Juniper, Cache National Forest.

It is the oldest tree found in Logan Cayon, Cache national Forest. It was discovered on July 23, 1923, by Maurice Blood Linford. It is believed to have lived for 1,500 years. it is 40-feet tall and 24-feet around.

Cypress of Abarkuh, Iran

It is also known as the Zoroastrian Sarv, is a cyress tree located in central Iran, Yazd Province at Iranian National Movement. It has lived for 4,000 years, earning the title as the oldest tree in the whole Asia.

Llangernyw, Wales

It is the oldest tree in Wales, more than 4,000 years old. It was found in St. Dygain’s Church in Llangernyw, County Borough of Conwy.

Alerce Milenario, Andes Mountains

It is also a cypress tree. Fitzroya Cupressoides is its scientific name, in Andes Mountains in South America. Currently 3,640 years of age, it is the second fully verified living tree after the Pinus Longaeva.

Old Tjikko, Sweden

First lived during the last Ice Age, this tree is about 9,550 years old. It stand 16 feet tall in Dalarna, Sweden. A geologist named Leif Kullman, discovered it and was named after his dog.

Methuselah, California

This tree is a bristlecone pine tree located in California’s White Mountains. Almost 5,000 years of age, it is also the oldest non-clonal tree in the world.
