- “349” Winning number of Pepsi product caps in 1992 is one of the most controversial case ever happened in the industry. The winning number offered a million pesos cash prize to anyone who got it. It turned out that not only a few people got the winning numbers, but thousands of them! Pepsi officials explained that there was a technical error. There were almost 500,000 who had the winning number and the company was sued, ending up spending 200 million pesos to pay those disappointed “winners”. The case ‘Pepsi 349’ fiasco ended in 2006, finally.
Major Achibald Butt. He was once a journalist and a military captain in the Philippines, he served as a an adviser to U.S presidents, William Howard Taft and Theodore Roosevelt. After joining the army during Spanish-American War, he went to the Philippines and served as Asst. Quartermaster as a captain until 1903. He embarked Titanic in 1912 to return to the U.S from Europe. Unfortunately, he is one of those who didn’t survived and his body was never found.

Marcelino Nuya and his dog “Serging” aka “Avante” received several awards in 1957 for his heroic deed during the Magsaysay plane crash. They both helped save Nestor Mata – the lone survivor during the plane crash that ended the life of former President Ramon Magsaysay.
