Meanwhile, amidst several protest rallies held in some parts of the country over the issue, Pres. Duterte remains on his stand over the issue. Pres. Duterte is the one who gave the go signal for the preparation of the Marcos Burial after he assumed the post.

Soon later it was put on hold by the High Court after several petitions were filed at SC against the move. The Palace then affirmed to respect the decision of the Court with regards to the issue.

Earlier this month, SC favored Marcos Sr.’s burial at the heroes’ cemetery and the country was left in surprise on Nov. 18 when the burial took place without prior announcement.

Recently, a news report in Phil Star Global entailed the side of Pres. Duterte regarding the issue that has sparked a lot of debates for decades. Pres. Duterte spoke during the San Beda College of Law grand alumni homecoming in Taguig last Saturday.

“We were trained with cold neutrality. I was a prosecutor… Whatever is stated there (in the law), that’s it… You should not allow compassion and sentiment and whatever to taint your judgment,” the 71-year-old President said.

Furthermore, the report also made mention that the executive chief emphasized that the move of burying the late dictator at the Heroes’ Cemetery would put an end to the issue.

“As lawyers, we are trained to just look at the law… It was stated there president, soldier. Whether true or not, that’s not my business to dig into the yeast,” Pres. Duterte said as stated on the report.

He also emphasized that it was not for him to give verdict on whether the late President has been a good leader or not. Pres. Duterte also asked the people to understand his position.
