Australians left the Americans behind in the first half until US, composed of NBA stars, cut the gap short.
Veteran Olympian Carmelo Anthony had to strive harder to gain 31 points while Kevin Durant and Kylie Irving also posted double digits before totally beating the Aussies.
Australia also has five NBA player ledy by Spurs’ Patty Mills who contributed 30 points to the team.
Andrew Bogut of Mavs gave 15 points while Matthew Dellavedova of Bucks also made double figures record with 11 points, 11 assists and six rebounds.
Because of Anthony’s big game, he is now Team USA’s all-time leadin Olympic scorer in the Olympics.
He has gone past David Robinson and LeBron James for the top spot among all who made it to the all-time Olympic scoring list.
As of this writing, US has three wins after it has defeated earlier China and Venezuela.
On the part of the Team Australia, this is their first loss after making two wins in the earlier games.
America will face Serbia on the court on Saturday and on Monday, it is set to play against Tony Parker’s Team France, which was earlier defeated by Australia.
The United States is now leading among participant countries in the Rio Olympics. Americans have 11 gold medals, 11 silvers and 10 bronze.
China made it to the second spot with 10 gold medals, five silvers and eight bronze medals.
Third in the row is Japan with six gold medals, a silver medal and 11 bronze medals.
Australia is ranked fourth with five gold medals, a silver and five bronze medals.
On the fifth spot is Hungary with five gold medals and one silver and one bronze medals.
Russia, Korea, Italy, Great Britain and France are sixth to tenth, respectively.
