- have paid at least three(3) monthly contributions within a year before the semester that he or she got sick or injured

- notify the SSS through filing an application for the benefit
According to the social insurance institution, the sick or injured member may avail the SSS sickness benefit for up to a maximum of 120 days or around four(4) months annually.
