Every morning, people choose eggs as part of every breakfast. It is because, they are easy to prepare and are also nutritious. No wonder why many people have been buying many eggs then either store them in the refrigerator or even in room temperature.

But, there is an issue with regards to where should these white or brown round food be stored – to refrigerate or not?

If you live in North America, Scandinavia, Australia or Japan, you probably keeping eggs in the refrigerator while other countries just place them in room temperature out of the refrigerator.

But, according to the Journal of Food Protection publication, there is a risk of having the bacteria called salmonella from going into those ones not refrigerated.

“In vitro insertion of salmonella into eggs is additional successful with non – cold eggs than with cold eggs.”

Marianne Gravely, the technical information specialist at the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said that “eggs shouldn’t be left at room temperature for more than two hours”.

“There is no way to know if a shell egg is pathogen-free. Food po1soning bacteria don’t affect the taste, smell, or appearance of a food,” she said.

“You can’t tell if a chicken is infected with salmonella, so any egg, whether it came from a grocery store, a farmers market, or from your neighbor’s backyard hens, could contain salmonella,” she added.

But in the end, it’s up to the consumers on which side will they consider. Being aware on how food is being handled can really help prevent many health issues.
