Having a superiority complex is annoying. Let that out!
SUPERIORITY COMPLEX is one of the defense mechanisms present in the workplace. Is it good to have that kind of mechanism?
This type of mechanism could be good or bad depending on the situation. Here are the signs that someone may have.
Seeking validation
When someone has this condition, he (or she) has a sense of self-worth that came from the outside sources. They only feel worthy when others see them that much.
Hard to own up their mistakes
When someone has this condition, he (or she) can’t take responsibility because it may contradict to their false identity. They prefer to hide behind a “perfect” version of themselves than to admit that they’re not.
Compare themselves to others
When someone has this condition, he (or she) loves to compare himself (or herself) to his (or her) inferiors around them.
Prone to mood swings
When someone has this condition, he (or she) tends to have extreme mood swings to the fact that he (or she) battles with their contradicting personalities. These people can switch moods from being inferior to convincing themselves that they’re superior.
Have a tendency to make things all about them
When someone has this condition, he (or she) wants to absorb all praises to them. They are being called as self-centered individuals as they have all the right decisions. They are also uplifting their own accomplishments by devaluing others.
Like things to be under their control
When someone has this condition, he (or she) wants to control his (or her) inferiors. They tend to strive for leadership positions just to have control over the management.
Have a sense of entitlement
According to Dr. Cali Estes, “a superiority complex can be another way of saying ‘entitlement’.” When someone has this condition, he (or she) can do everything just to get what they wanted.
