These stones are also identified as hard calcifications caught in the tonsils. Usually, you can see them as light yellow or white. However, they are sometimes formed too deep in the tonsils which makes you harder to see them through a mirror.
Based on the article from Reader’s Digest, a study in the Journal of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery found out that these are similar to the plaque that forms on our teeth. Tonsils worked as a blocker bacteria and it is filtering out germs, helping your immune system. When particles are trapped such as small bits of food or mucus, these can become lodged in the tonsils and grow bacteria. Later on, these will form calcifications or tonsil stones when particles harden.

Here are the signs that you should not ignore:
- redness and irritation in your tonsils
- bad breath
- infections such as tonsillitis
- a sore throat
- the feeling of difficulty or painful swallowing
- feeling pain or pressure in their ears.
People with more or deeper crevices in their tonsils are more likely to have this condition, according to the head and neck specialist Kyra Osborne, MD, at the Cleveland Clinic. She also said that a bigger possibility of occurrence is on teenagers.
