Rayani Air Stopped Operating

Rayani Air, one of Malaysia’s leading airlines was suspended due to faulty air frames and unpaid salaries.

One source said “the pilots had raised concerns with the windows and hydraulic systems since late January. They were concerned some of these issues could potentially lead to accidents.”

Aside from that, there were numerous technical issues such as a broken cockpit window that happened on February 9.

These “technical problems” lead to delayed flights and cancellations, disappointing passengers since then.

The airline operates two Boeing 737-400. The first aircraft was launched in 1988 but discontinued in 2000.

Malaysia Airlines operated 46 units of the aircraft from 1989 to 2014, but was phased in exchange of 737-800. While AirAsia operated several before being replaced with Airbus A320-200.

Ravi Alagendrran, founder of Rayani Air, told Malay Mail that several department heads conspired to shut down the airline by inciting the pilots to strike.

Just last March, the said airline was plagued with numerous issues and complaints because of rescheduled flight so often up to 13 hours later. Cancellation of flights is also redundant with them without any compensation or assistance to the affected passengers.

Consumer complaints were even highlighted in several media outlets, causing the airline more humiliation from the public.

One politician, Lau Weng San criticised the airline for using handwritten boarding passes, delaying the time and considered as a threat to aviation industry because of lack of security.

This led Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, Minister of transport, to investigate the airline and be suspended as soon as possible.

On April 11, 2016, Rayani Air was finally suspended for three months.

It is not a common thing for an airline to be reported because of technical problems since the norm of every flying aircraft is the to prioritize the safety of passengers while traveling 30,000 fee t above the ground.

Moreover, not only passengers are affected, the whole employee – cabin crews and pilot teams were also ashamed of what has been happening.
